دکتر احسان اسکوئیان تحصیلات دانشگاهی خود را در سال 1378 با تحصیل در رشته کشاورزی آغاز نموده و با طی مراحل مختلف تحصیلی در سال 1391 موفق به کسب مدرک دکتری تخصصی (PhD.) در رشته بیوتکنولوژی مولکولی از دانشگاه پوترا، کشور مالزی شدند. در ادامه ایشان تحقیقات خویش را در همان دانشگاه به صورت پسا دکتری (Post. Doc) به مدت یک سال دیگر ادامه دادند. حوزه های تحقیقاتی ایشان در زمینه های بیوتکنولوژی مولکولی، بیوتکنولوژی گیاهی، بیوتکنولوژی میکروبی و بیوتکنولوژی سلولی بوده است. ایشان همچنین تجارب ارزشمندی در زمینه های ارزیابی بیان ژن، بیان پروتئین‌، تعیین مکانیزم مولکولی فرآیندهای بیولوژیک، غربالگری، ارزیابی و تعیین خواص کاربردی متابولیت‌های گیاهی و میکروبی، جداسازی و ارزیابی میکروارگانیسمهای سودمند در کشاورزی، ارزیابی جمعیت و بیومس میکروارگانیسم‌ها به روشهای مولکولی و شیمیایی و جداسازی، کشت و نگهداری سلول‌های انسانی و حیوانی دارند. ایشان همکاری خود را با پژوهشکده بیوتکنولوژی کشاورزی منطقه شرق و شمال شرق کشور (مشهد) از سال 1396 آغاز نموده و در حال حاضر تحقیقات ایشان در حوزه بیوتکنولوژی و تولید محصولات دانش‌بنیان نظیر تولید ترکیبات جایگزین آنتی‌بیوتیک‌ها به‌ویژه فایتوبیوتیک‌ها با کاربری در حوزه کشاورزی متمرکز شده است.
